KBS ‘2 Days and 1 Night’ became the first Korean variety show to film at the Joint Security Area, Panmunjom!

Panmunjom, as known as the ‘Truce Village’ is a Joint Security Area. It’s the only portion of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) where North and South Korean forces stand face-to-face. The two Koreas used this area for diplomatic engagements, including the recent Inter-Korean summit.

Until now, no entertainment programs or variety shows could film at the area. However, ‘2 Days and 1 Night’ finally received the permission, after sending numerous requests to the Panmunjom department at UN.

In celebration of establishing the Panmunjom Declaration for Peace, where the two leaders of North and South Korea agreed to end the Korean War, ‘2 Days and 1 Night’ team will visit the Joint Security Area and learn the history.

Regarding the visit, Cha Taey-Hyun shared, “it’s the third place that felt very special among the places ‘2 Days and 1 Night’ team got to visit, after Dokdo and Harbin.” Furthermore, other members shared, “it’s sad and unfortunate that we can’t actually go to the place (North Korea) that is right in front of us. I never got to realize what it’s like to be a divided nation, but I can feel it now.”

You can watch the members of ‘2 Days and 1 Night’ and their visit to Panmunjom on June 24 and July 1 on KBS 2TV channel.
