Cha Tae-hyun and Bae Doona to star in the upcoming drama “The Best Divorce.”
According to reports released on May 25, actors Cha Tae-hyun has accepted an offer for a lead role in the new KBS drama “The Best Divorce.”
In addition to Cha, cross-over actress Bae Doona has confirmed her appearance in the new show too. For both, the drama marks their first confirmed casting this year. Last summer, Cha appeared in the slice-of-life comedy-drama “The Best Hit,” while Bae had a role in the mystery thriller “Stranger.”
However, since then the two have focused their attention on other projects including films, entertainment programs, and more. As such, it has been almost a year since the two skilled actors have met their fans through a drama.
Moreover, with this news expectations are rising for an above average production and acting. “The Best Divorce” is a romantic comedy centered on the lives of thirty-somethings in contemporary society. In this landscape, the different characters contemplate what a romantic relationship means for them as their opportunities for marriage become increasingly scares while divorces grow.
Notably, the drama is based on an acclaimed Japanese series of the same name by Yuji Sakamoto. In particular, Sakamoto also wrote “Mother” which has been adapted into a successful drama that was nominated at CANNESERIES.
Meanwhile, the show’s production team are still flushing out the details for broadcast. However, they have said that they aim to air the series during the second half of the year.
