Fans of SBS MTV’s “The Show” will notice that there are only two MCs instead of the traditional three on Tuesday’s broadcast of the music program. The missing host, Kim Yong-guk, canceled his appearance for the live recording the day before in what looks to be one of the first steps in a public relations attempt to mitigate the impact of his scandals.

Before information about “The Show” became public, the singer published a handwritten apology. In the letter, Kim apologized for putting his cat Lucy up for adoption — which some alleged was abandonment –, for having a secret Instagram account where he expressed disappointment with fans, and for dating rumors with SONAMOO’s Na-hyun. However, with all of these incidences occurring within a short period, he still faces substantial and severe criticism.

Following his absence from “The Show,” Kim’s agency Choon Entertainment made an additional announcement. Through social media and Kim’s official blog, the agency said that they had canceled the singer’s 1st Mini Album ‘Friday n Night’ Golden Ticket event. Given that fans had to buy several of his albums to qualify, many feel hoodwinked by the news. This is the latest development, and it has yet to be seen if there will be more cancellations in the future.

Although the singer is currently doing damage control, fans have expressed disappointment and may no longer support Kim once all the dust has settled.
