On July 14, it was confirmed that JTBC purchased the house of singer Lee Hyo-ri and Lee Sang-soon, who were the backgrounds of the popular entertainment “Hyori’s Bed and Breakfast” for 1.4 billion won.

According to the Jeju District Court’s registration department, JTBC signed a contract with Lee Sang-soon last month to sell his house located in Jeju City to the company. The court finalized the transfer of ownership this month on the 6th. Lee first began construction of the house in 2012 in January. By October, workers had completed the two-story reinforced concrete structure which consists of the main building and a separate workshop built by Lee couple.

In a statement, a JTBC revealed that major motivation behind the acquisition was so they could protect them from privacy violations and forgo possible difficulties should the Lee couple try to sell the property. “There were cases where people knocked on their gate and even broke into the house,” JTBC said in a press release. Additionally, the company mentions that “even if a third party purchased the site, it would not be easy to use it as a residential location.”

In particular, the company said that “since the purchase is for privacy protection purposes, please refrain from paying too much attention to their new homes in the future. The couple reportedly sold their house in Jeju and are now building a new one somewhere.
