On April 23, news outlets discovered that Lee Sun-young who directed “Show Me The Money,” and “Sixteen” has partnered with “Miracle Audition” and “Superstar K” director Kim Byung-il and MBK Entertainment CEO Kim Kwang-su for a new music program.

According to reports, the program will be an idol survival program, similar to Mnet’s “Produce 101” series. However, the show differs in that the aim is not to create a pop group, but a boy group dedicated to a pure hip-hop sound. Think “Show Me The Money,” but there is not just one winner, but many who form a group. Reportedly, “₩on for the Money 19” is the working title of the program.

On another note, with music veering towards more hip-hop and R&B sounds, the show may prove to be massively successful. Additionally, the minds behind the show, Lee Sun-young, Kim Byung-il and Kim Kwang-su certainly have the experience and expertise to pull it off.

Lee Sung-young and Kim Kwang-su both have directed highly successful music survival programs. In particular, Lee is recognized for “Show Me The Money” and “Sixteen,” which produced the mega girl group TWICE.

Likewise, Kim is considered a professional producer of audition programs. He has worked on “Superstar K” where now BTS member Jungkook famously auditioned; “Miracle Audition,” and “WIN: Who Is Next” where both current iKON, GOT7, and DAY6 members participated.

Meanwhile, as CEO of MBK Entertainment Kim Kwang-su has worked with and created such artists as Davicho, T-ARA, SeeYa, SGWannabe, and Jo Sung-mo. Moreover, he also has experience working on the dramas like “East of Eden” and musicals.
