August 15 in Korea is an especially meaningful public holiday. It is ‘Gwangbokjeol’, which is the national liberation day that commemorates Korea’s liberation from Japan.
The most common way to celebrate Gwangbokjeol is to hang the Korean flag (Taegeukki) in front of one’s house. These days, many people instead post a photo of Taeguekki on social media. This year was no exception, as many celebrities also posted the photo on their social media accounts.
