Yonhap News

According to industry sources on December 16, three passengers in their 20s caused a serious flight delay and inconvenience to 360 fellow passengers.

Two passengers from China and one from Hong Kong, who turned out to be fans of a K-pop band reportedly booked tickets for one first class seat, one business class, and one economy class. They rushed to the seating area where members of an idol group were seating, despite warnings from the cabin crew.

Briefly after the incident, they insisted to get off the plane, which was all prepared to take off. The cabin crew made sure they understand the aviation law which requires passengers to go through another security checks when any passenger gets off the plane before takeoff.

However, the three passengers kept on insisting, which caused all 360 passengers, including the idol group members, to disembark for another round of security screening. This series of incidents caused an hour of a flight delay.

Moreover, the passengers asked for a refund. Korean Air asked Hong Kong Police for an investigation, but the request was denied because “the incident did not cause any physical harm.”

Eventually, Korean Air had to pay for the refund, in addition to the compensation for the flight delay.
