Over the past month, YG has conducted meetings with the agencies representing the members of MIXNINE, with the last one being on April 29.

In those meetings, YG pushed for a three-year contract with the members. For those three years, YG said that the group would release an album every year, promote in Korea abroad. More, for the last six month of their contract, the members would apparently return to their home agencies, but still technically be signed to YG.

Reportedly, the responses from the different management companies varied. Generally, however, reactions were native. Some have expressed objection to not being able to review the proposition before it was finalized. Others commented that they had asked YG to keep the original time frame which much shorter than the current three-years.

Originally, the group was suppose to debut in April with a contract of four months. More, YG planned an extension after this initial debut. Additionally, there were plans to have performances overseas in around 15 different place.

However, some believed that this original plane set the group up for failure. Further, the long contract period could negatively impact the members who have already debut as part of an idol group. As a result of these conflicting issues and the different agencies to come to an agreement, negotiations have essentially fallen through.

Adding to the conflict the Fair Trade Commission in Korea has been reviewing contracts for the appearance and management of TV talent programs “MIXNINE” and “The Unit.” Following this investigation, the Commission found that YG’s proposed contract has unfair exemption that passed on the risk from the company to the members and their managing agencies.

These finding coupled with the lack of agreement between the different agencies have doomed MIXNINE.
