According to a media report, broadcast giant MBC is currently preparing for a new music audition program.
According to a recent report that emerged on June 18, MBC will launch an audition program this fall to select a group of 10 elite creative individuals.
Beyond the basics of an audition style survival program, the new show has other interesting aspects that set it apart. Namely, the audition program is open exclusively to teenagers. According to the report, the fact that only the most promising and high-potential teenager will advance is likely to give the show a fresh feeling. However, simply being in the prime of their youth is not enough. All of the contestants should have basic musical skills.
With their requirement, the new show veers away from other shows which were open to people who had dreams of being a K-pop star but lacked the fundamentals of either dancing, singing, or rapping. With the ten finalists, MBC plans to create a new K-pop group with its own “worldview,” or international appeal similar to boy group BTS.
The company is aiming to establish a group that can be recognized worldwide with their own skills that will help them create music and pull off concepts that they build themselves. Currently, MBC’s casting directors have been searching for talent in art and general high school nationwide. Further, they are planning to recruit applicants through a major audition this summer break.
