While Jeon Ji-Yoon still shows much affection for her former co-workers, the singer says it’s least likely that 4Minute will reunite.

On October 31, Jeon Ji-Yoon participated in the press conference commemorating the release of new single “Shower” at the Korea Press Center in Seoul. During the interview, the rapper talked about what has changed since she departed from 4Minute and CUBE Entertainment, as well as maintaining friendship with her co-workers.

Fist, Jeon Ji-Yoon introduced her new single “Shower” to the press. The rapper said, “I wrote it myself. I wanted to convey the feelings that I go through in my everyday life. When I take a shower, I go through a lot of small and unnecessary thoughts and worries. But once you are done taking a shower, you feel so refreshed. I’ve always liked that about showers. I wished that all my negative thoughts would be washed away with water.”

In June of 2016, Jeon Ji-Yoon departed from Cube Entertainment and has been promoting by herself until now. Jeon said, “I heard that I look healthier since I started promoting as a soloist. I actually feel a lot better and more relaxed. I guess being lonely is what gets me down sometimes. It used to be so crowded, but now I’m alone.”

Then, she explained what had changed since she left 4minute. Jeon said, “I’ve always loved Jazz and classical. I always wondered how I would be able to incorporate those elements in my tracks. In the past, I had to blend in to my group’s unique color. Consequently, I had to give up my personal taste. By working solo, I’m releasing all my emotions that I couldn’t while working with a group. I know I worked as a member of 4Minute, but the reason why I chose to become a singer even before 4Minute was because of my love for music.”

Afterwards, Jeon Ji-Yoon mentioned her former co-workers. Jeon said, “they give me a feedback every time I release a single. They don’t elaborate much; they always say “it’s good.” It’s always those three words. Very simple. We still try to maintain our friendship by meeting up to grab a meal or something.”

However, when asked if there was a possibility for them to reunite, Jeon drew the line.

The rapper said very carefully, “if they continued their career as singers, maybe there would have been a chance. However, a lot of them went into acting. That’s what makes it very difficult. It would be challenging to go back to singing after trying out acting. I don’t think the future looks so bright when it comes to a 4Minute reunion.”

At the end, Jeon Ji-Yoon shared what she hopes to gain out of her solo activities. She said, “I hope to become the Jeon Ji-Yoon that everyone trusts and listens to no matter what. I want to become a musician that everyone downloads her music. I haven’t been getting the results that I had hoped for. However, once, someone asked me to write a track for their exhibition because they liked the style of my tracks. I know my records don’t show much, but I were to continue walking my own path, maybe there will be some junior singers who wish to walk the same path.”
