iKon’s Junhoe apologizes for a controversial SNS post, for which Korean iKonics demanded an apology they rightfully deserved.

On September 25, iKon’s Junhoe found himself in hot water for his recent SNS post. The day prior, the singer had uploaded a picture of a present from a Japanese film director and comedian Kitano Takeshi, to which a Korean fan had pleaded him to delete.

According to the fan, Kitano Takeshi was a Japanese entertainer who had previously expressed hostility towards Korea and ignorance for the painful and complicated history between the two countries. The fan worried that the post would backfire on Koo Junhoe because Koreans are very sensitive about the history between Japan and Korea.

However, Koo Junhoe responded to the fan’s comment rather bitterly and said, “don’t tell me what to do. I don’t want to (delete the picture).” This comment, rather than the post itself, created much controversy among fans. The K-fans argued that the singer was being rude to a fan, who was just worrying about him, and demanded an honest apology from the singer.

After a few hours, Koo Junhoe deleted the controversial post and posted an apology.

The singer said, “I’m sorry. He’s just an actor that I like and I did not know any other information about him. Also, fans are like friends to me. I did not know talking to them so comfortably would result in this. I am truly sorry. Next time, I’ll be the Junhoe that communicates with fans very carefully. I’m sorry for worrying you all.”
