Esom talks about what it was like to meet and work with Seo Kang-Joon for the first time in JTBC’s “The Third Charm”
On November 19, actress Esom participated in an interview to commemorate the end of JTBC drama “The Third Charm,” which aired its last episode on November 17. During the interview, the actress mentioned her co-star Seo Kang-Joon and their friendship they had developed while working together.
In “The Third Charm,” Esom and Seo Kang-Joon appeared as a couple. They had first dated as two 20-year old’s, but could not avoid the inevitable breakup. Nonetheless, the couple reunited 7 years later, giving another go at their relationship.
Esom said, “I remember my first scene with Seo Kang-Joon. In the drama, we appeared as friends, so I had to speak informally to him. I’m actually older than him, so I suggested we talk informally in real life, first. Ever since then, we were able to have a conversation very casually. That really helped when it came to acting.”
She continued, “after filming our first scene together, we received many compliments from our production team. They said that we looked like we had been working together for a month. That’s how good of a chemistry we presented. Seo Kang-Joon is very detailed and meticulous. Also, he is very good at acting. I learned a lot from him.”
According to Esom, the two and the director had much discussion regarding the characters’ reunion in the drama. The actress said, “one time, we met at a cafe and talked for 7 hours straight. That meeting helped me a lot. While talking about the reunion, we shared our problems and concerns. Those are some things that you can’t learn elsewhere. I cherish the memory very much.”
At the end, Esom quickly addressed the ending of the drama. She said, “I loved the ending. The narration talked about overcoming the hardship to move forward with happiness, and it seemed like it was talking about us in real life. “The Third Charm” gave me a chance to become more mature and grow as an adult. I will encounter many works that will help me to grow as a person, but this particular drama kicked off a great start to my journey.”
