Won Joon who is known for his roles in classic Korean cinema, passed away on Tuesday due to a heart attacked. Friends of the actor mourne his death and send condolences.

On Tuesday around 4 p.m. KST, actor Won Joon passed away at his home in Seoul due to a heart attack. He was 55 years old.

While younger generations on fans may be unaware of the actor, Won Joon has played a considerable part in the filmography of South Korea. During the late 70s and 80s, Won took on several lead roles in different movies. Such works like High School Joker (고고얄개, 1976), Mischief’s Marching Song (얄개 행진곡, 1977), Our High School Days (우리들의 고교시대, 1978) and more are now considered classics of Korean cinema.

It has been many years since Won had taken on a new role since his acting days decades ago. However, he reemerged later with a joint online broadcast with comedian Kim Yong-eun, is expressing his sadness about the news along with many others. After hearing about his news of death, Kim wrote on his Instagram describing Won as a talented actor and to “now act and feel at ease in a painless world.”

Meanwhile, Won’s funeral will be held at a funeral home in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province on the 20th.
