“Sometime after 10 a.m. this morning my daughter was born,” said Park Jin-young in an Instagram post on Friday. Continuing, Park wrote that although he hadn’t slept since yesterday and his voice was a wreak, that he “wanted to give this gift,” the gift being an upload, to all the parents and children of the world.

Park presents a new song titled “This Hand I Hold Tightly” (literal translation) that he wrote, composed, and sang himself for his daughter in the upload. In the song, he sings about being there for his daughter — being by her side and there every time she falls.

In response to the news, many of the artist under JYP Entertainment including members from GOT7 and soloist Baek A-yeon have sent him congratulatory messages. Notably, the birth of his daughter comes on the heels of his latest show’s premiere.

On Thursday, Park’s new program “Super Intern” broadcasted on Mnet and received a positive response from viewers. In the show, Park looks for talented or passionate young people to take on internships at JYP Entertainment. In doing so, he hopes to “give comfort and hope” to the youth of the country.

In a press conference for the show, Park said that he “read an article last August that the youth unemployment reached 10 percent. I wanted to comfort and give hope to many frustrated youths.” As a result of this desire, he pitched the idea for a “super intern” to a broadcasting network and that is where things started.

Later, in Mid-November, Mnet began accepting applicants without any restrictions on age, gender, education, and career background. According to a representative, the Mnet decided to expand the scope of applicants to give opportunities to “people who are passionate about the field (of music and entertainment).”
