YouTube plans to begin filming soon after the cast is secure.
On April 25, global video platform Youtube announced plans for their first original K-drama “Top Management.” Notably, the new show will air on its subscriber-only network Youtube Red.
According to reports, “Top Management” tells the story of a young man pursuing his dream to be an idol, despite all of the difficulties he encounters. Moreover, screenwriter and director Seongho Yoon will be behind the camera.
As reported by the show’s producers, their staff is currently in the middle of casting. In Particular, it appears that they have already secured their main cast. “My Golden Life” actress Seo Eun-soo, “My Father is Strange” Ahn Hyo-seop, ASTRO member Cha Eun-woo, and Mnet’s “High School Rapper 2” contestant Bang Jae-min have all confirmed their appearance in the new drama.
Seo, Ahn, Cha, and Bang will all be playing different roles related to the characters who are or were trainees. For instance, Seo Eun-soo will take on the part of a highly talented trainee with special abilities while Ahn Hyo-seop plays a musical genius.
The confirmed cast is drawing attention due to its mix of interesting personalities and acting ability. More, many are interested to see if the actors will have synergy on screen. In addition to the cast, “Top management” is being noted as the first drama that is explicitly created by and for YouTube. As such, many expect the show to reach an entirely new audience due to its size and scope.
Meanwhile, “Top Management” producers say that they will begin filming in earnest in the near future. Further, they predict that broadcast will begin in the second half of 2018.
So far, YouTube Red is now available in the U.S., South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and Mexico. Other countries can purchase videos for a separate price.
