Yoo Jae-suk is the number one entertainer in South Korea for the seventh year in a row, followed by two other well-known MCs.
Gallup Korea ranked entertainer and MC Yoo Jae-suk as the top performer in comedy in South Korea for the seventh straight year. 33.4 percent of the 1,700 men and women polled nationwide (excluding Jeju) said that he was the most active entertainer and funny-man of 2018. Gallup ran the poll from November 7 to 30, and all participants were over 13 years of age.
Currently, Yoo is active on all three of Korea’s most prominent public networks. With MBC, he was a main cast member on “Infinite Challenge,” which ended this year. Additionally, he is apart of the SBS programs “Happy Sunday,” and “Running Man” and returned to KBS3 for the third season of “Happy Together.”
Recently, Yoo also made his debut on JTBC with “Sugar Man” which is currently in its second season. Notable, all of Yoo’s shows are long-running, proving their popularity across generations and social groups.
As such, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Yoo has taken the “person of the year” spot in the Gallup Korea’s comedian category for several years. He had ascended to the number one spot from 2007 to 2009, and briefly to No. 2 in 2010 and 2011. Although he has ranked as No. 1 for seven years in a row since 2012, the gap between him and those in the second and third place has decreased in the past three years.
Park Na-rae came in second with 27.4%. Since making her debut in 2006 and making a name for herself on “Comedy Big League,” she has appeared on popular programs. Currently, she is a cast member on “I Live Alone,” “Video Star,” and “Salty Tour,” while continuing to perform comedy traditionally.
In third place in Kang Ho-dong with 23.3%. Coming out of a temporary retirement in 2011, Kang joined the cast of “Knowing Bros,” “Let’s Eat Dinner Together,” “Day You Eat Out” and more.
