On October 16, HIGHLIGHT members expressed their gratitude towards fans through Instagram posts. Along with the posts, the group held a V live broadcast the day prior to their actually anniversary, where they announced the release of a new track on October 29 and solo concert in November.
First, Son Dong-Woon said, “since middle school, when I had begun training, until the day I debuted, I had never felt easy about anything. I was worried everything could fall apart in any second. However, you were the ones who brought stability and completed my life. I sincerely hope that there will be enough time in the future for me to repay all the love, and I hope that I could be that person who is capable of doing so.”
He continued, “my dear friend, Lights. You’ve done a great job so far, congratulations on 9th anniversary, and please keep taking of us.”
Yang Yo-Seob said, “just like this picture, where everyone became one team with one heart and one goal, we will always walk our path together as a team. I’m aware that some of our decisions from the past may have been a little upsetting to you. However, our fans, staff, and colleagues have always had our backs and continued to encourage and help us. Thank you. Also to my friends, Yoon, Yong, Lee, and Song. I hereby state my respect and gratitude to you.”
Yong Jun-Hyung briefly said, “Happy 9th anniversary,” along with the picture of HIGHLIGHT members. In the picture, the 4 members held a picture of Yoon Doo-Joon instead, for he is currently serving in the military and could not be with them on this day.
Lastly, Lee Gi-Kwang said, “it’s our 9th anniversary. I sincerely thank all our fans, who have supported us, encouraged us, and taken care of us for the longest time ever. The two singers who recently entered the army made a connection but not as artists but as soldiers.
On September 10, Highlight’s agency Around Us Entertainment released a photo of Yoon Doo-joon, who recently enlisted. However, the singer was not alone. Notably, he snapped a picture with BtoB leader Seo Eun-Kwang!
This time around, the two met not as singers but as soldiers in the army. Both sport huge smiles with Seo wrapping his arms around Yoo, and the Highlight member holding a slogan that says “You Are My Pride.”
Further, Around Us Entertainment says that with Yoon’s “healthy and energetic training camp life” that fans can overcome any lingering negative feelings.
What do you think? Do you feel better after seeing the picture?
Yoon Doo-joon may have joined the army, but his change from singer to soldier has not prevented him from keeping in touch with fans.
On September 5, Highlight member Yoon Doo-joon released a handwritten letter on social media directed at fans.
In the letter, the singer apologized for the sudden news of his enlistment, but that he was very determined to join. Further, he asks fans to give his regards to the other members. While his message to fans seems to be positive overall, Yoon reveals that it wasn’t always like that.
In a previously released picture, the singer looks calm, content, and comfortable. However, in the letter, the singer reveals that he felt unsure and lonely when he first enlisted. Subsequently, he admits that he often cried without anyone knowing.
Now at present, he says that he believed he has finally adjusted to his new life and as such, asks fans not to worry. In the end, he wished for everyone to remain healthy as the season changes and to be careful of catching a cold.
Meanwhile, Yoon enlisted while his drama “Let’s Eat 3” was still airing.
The current status of Highlight’s Yoon Doo-joon has been revealed.
Anxious fans can put their hearts at rest with the emergence of a recent photo of Highlight member Yoon Doo-joon. Last week the singer announced his intention to begin his military service with the aim to enlist on August 24.
The sudden news left fans little time to process the coming change. Nonetheless, they accepted that the singer would be taking a leave of absence to fulfill his mandatory conscription. Now, it appears that the singer has comfortably transitioned to his new life in the army.
A photo of Yoon first emerged on an online community and had quickly spread on the web. In the picture, the singer is wearing his military uniform and beret. Further, he is seen smiling brightly and surrounded by his comrades.
Meanwhile, Yoon will complete his service sometime in 2020.
The day has finally arrived, and Highlight members have written sweet messages for Yoon, as he became the group’s first member to enlist in the military.
First, Song Dong-Woon left a long message, wishing his hyung a safe service. The singer said, “it’s very regrettable since I’ve been waiting so long for the five of us to get on that stage, putting out the coolest, and most fun performances. It’s also been very long since the last time I saw you, and it bothers me that I couldn’t even get to say goodbye. We might not even exist if you hadn’t been a part of our group, let alone being the leader.”
He continued, “I trust you and follow you, and I love you so much. You are such an innocent person, asking me to hang out since you will be done with filming in a few weeks. I know it will be hard to say goodbye as everyone leaves one by one, but today I feel like crying. Since it’s my first performance, I can’t show it on the outside, but I think I will be a bit down today. Forever our Highlight’s leader, forever my hyung, please return safely.”
Lee Ki-Kwang said, “my friend, Doo-Joon. You’ve done a good job since high school and as a leader until now. Put down your burdens for now, serve well as a soldier, and rest for a bit. Be healthy and let’s meet again soon and restart happily. I love you, Yoon Doo-Joon.”
Yoon Doo-Joon leaves a heartfelt handwritten letter to fans, following a sudden military enlistment announcement.
On August 22, a news outlet reported that after getting rejected to serve as a conscripted policeman, HIGHLIGHT’s Yoon Doo-Joon had to abruptly enlist in the military on August 24. The news came as a shock because Yang Yo-Seob had also just announced he will start serving in a few months, as well.
Soon afterwards, Around US Entertainment confirmed the news through its official homepage. The agency said, “after receiving a draft notice, Yoon Doo-Joon will be enlisting in the military on August 24 as an active soldier. At the end of a 5-week long basic training, the singer will receive his official assignment, and plans to diligently serve the country.”
Furthermore, the singer himself wrote a sweet letter to concerning fans, reassuring a safe service and return. The following is the original letter and a translated version:
Hello, this is Doo-Joon.
You were very surprised, right? So was I. Not as much as you guys, though.
At an old age, I have finally been called to serve the country and ended up making this sudden departure. A part of me is glad that I’m finally able to lessen the burden of not being able to go earlier. However, it hurts and upsets me the most that I couldn’t say a proper goodbye to you before leaving.
The fact that I was able to enjoy my career in the entertainment industry for almost 10 years is mostly thanks to Light’s. In this uncommon life that I have, I give credit to you for allowing me to feel the most common emotions that are happiness and sadness. The special moment I had with you allowed me to feel those emotions.
Thank you for spending the one third of my short life, cheering me on, and supporting me. It was a great honor and I sincerely thank you. Now I’m about to begin a new chapter in my life.
To my members, family, friends, colleagues, drama representatives – I’m sorry, and so thankful. I hope you are stay healthy.
Lastly, to all my fans. Put your health as your priority, and I hope you are as happy and healthy as anyone will ever be at this moment. Thank you. Good bye.
Meanwhile, with the singer’s sudden military enlistment, tvN’s drama “Let’s Eat 3” will shorten to 14 episodes.
