GOT7 Members Chat with Twitter’s Creator and CEO Jack Dorsey.

GOT7 members Mark, Young-jae, and BamBam, met with Twitter creator and CEO Jack Dorsey to chat about K-pop and how the micro-blogging site has helped it grow.

For the past few days, Twitter CEO and founder Jack Dorsey has been in South Korea where he has had an opportunity to meet president Moon Jae-in, attend a press conference, and even sit down to converse with K-pop idols. It is part of the silicon valley power house’s international tour of regional offices. While there were a variety of subjects to talk about, one, in particular, held the most discussion time: K-pop.

K-pop has contributed to Twitter’s resurgence in South Korea, the CEO of Twitter Korea Shin Cheong-seop acknowledged in an interview last year. When Twitter was introduced to the country in the early 2010s, daily user use was far below other places in the world.

However, after actively expanding K-pop idol group accounts and broadcasting interviews on Twitter in 2015, “fans began to flock to [Twitter],” for the artists domestically and around the world revealed CEO Shin.

Dorsey echoed this sentiment. “K-pop loves Twitter; Twitter loves K-pop. Certainly, we benefited massively from people choosing us to have a conversation about their passion,” he said Friday. According to the micro-blogging site, South Korea ranks as the second fastest growing revenue market for the company. This year it may ascend to first place.

On Friday when he sat down with GOT7 member Mark, Young-jae, and BamBam, Dorsey and another company representative chatted about how they discovered and used the program. BamBam commented that he likes to use Twitter because it is one of the “fastest ways to connect with people” all over the world.

This connection is one of the reasons why K-pop Twitter is growing so much. With a legion of followers groups like BTS (14.4 million followers) and GOT7 (6.2 million followers) have fans who had translated updates and shared information on the platform years before the entertainment agencies started providing translations themselves.

While GOT7 members have seen the benefits of the platform in communicating with the fanbase, Youngjae presented an idea for a better and more intimate way to speak to fans when Dorsey asked them how they would run Twitter. “If [we] could make a room and put a limit on the number of people in the room [and] the first people to get into the room (sic) gets a chance to talk to you,” he said through a translation by member Mark.

His idea was well received by Dorsey, and with South Korea and K-pop playing an important role on the platform, his idea might take hold.

Check out their full conversation here.

Infinite member Sungyeol showed off his new short hairstyle in a picture he posted on social media on Friday. His new short locks, a hairstyle that is mandatory for all soldiers, signals that it is almost time for the singer to enlist in the military.

Enlistment can be a difficult time for celebrities who are forced to put their careers on hold and their fans for the same reason. Understanding this, Sungyeol posted a handwritten letter alongside the photo of himself.

In the touching letter, the singer talked about debuting, the creation of the group’s fandom name, and the memories they created together. “It’s been nine years since I made my debut in 2010 and met you all under the name ‘Infinite,” he wrote. “We’ve been through a lot, haven’t we? The day we got our “Inspirit” name, the day of our first fan meeting, the first time we ranked no.1 on a music show, and my first solo concert,” he reminisced, “I had so many memories!”

“I’ll take these happy memories that I made with you all, and I’ll keep them in my heart,” Sungyeol wrote. “Thank you so much for being with Infinite this whole time, and I love you. I’ll be healthy and will return.”

The singer will go through basic training for five weeks before being assigned a permanent position for at least the next year and a half.

Gray and Song Da-eun – OSEN News

AOMG Official, Gray’s management agency, told news outlets on Friday afternoon that a report claiming that the rapper and actress Song Da-eun are dating is a groundless rumor. The statement came just 20 minutes after the now debunked article emerged and helped to prevent the story from spreading any further. Song’s representative also denied the rumor afterward.

Earlier, a media outlet reported that Gray and Song had graduated into a romantic relationship from friends. Further, according to the article, the two began to date sometime last year. Meanwhile, Gray is behind numerous hit songs as a rapper and producer for singer Jay Park’s label AOMG Official. Additionally, the rapper is loved by the public after appearing on cable channel Mnet rapper survival program “Show Me the Money 5.”

Kang Daniel and LM Entertainment Begin Legal Battle Over His Contract

Kang Daniel, a former member of the group Wanna One, will start a legal battle with his agency LM Entertainment.

Kand Daniel – OSEN News database

Former Wanna One member Kang Daniel and his agency LM Entertainment failed to reach an agreement and entered into a legal battle. “We filed an injunction with the Seoul Central District Court against LM Entertainment to suspend [Kang’s] contract,” said Kang Daniel’s legal representative on Thursday.

According to Kang side, LM Entertainment signed a joint business contract to transfer various rights of the exclusive contract to a third party for compensation without Kang’s consent. The injunction request, consequently, is in response to the company’s actions, which Kang says is a violation of his exclusive contract.

Sending a message to his fans, Kang said “I’m very sorry to the fans who are so concerned that the situation is going to be a legal dispute,” and “I hope this will be over as soon as possible.” Moreover, he asks fans to “trust him” and wait just a bit longer for his return.

The lead up to the legal battle began earlier this month when reports emerged that Kang has sent the agency a statement asking to be released from his contract. While LM Entertainment initially denied that Kang was leaving the company, it has become clear that leaving was the singer’s intention.

Unfortunately, the dispute with LM Entertainment has put a red light on Kang’s solo debut that was supposed to take place next month.
