The JTBC romance drama “Something in the Rain” is the most popular drama for the first half of 2018.

According to Gooddata Corporation, the drama “Something in the Rain” (Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food) topped the list for the most popular dramatic show for the first half of 2018. The show garnered a total of 24,710 points.

The evaluation is not surprising. “Something in the Rain” dominated news articles every week after it aired and became a hot topic of conversation. Many fans and industry insiders alike praised the show’s realistic portrayal of a complicated yet passionate love affair between a man and a woman.

Moreover, the pragmatic acting two main protagonists, Son Ye-jin and Jung Hae-in, added to the emotional impact of the program. Besides the plot and the actors, the director and outstandingly considerate soundtrack helped the drama record a viewer rating of 8.3 percent in the Seoul metropolitan area.

TVN’s “My Mister,” starring K-pop star IU came in second place with 24,299 points. Another tVN drama, “Prison Playbook,” took the third spot and JTBC’s “Misty” came in fourth with 16,054 and 15,069 points, respectively. In particular, JTBC showed strong popularity in the drama market with three of its productions finding their way into the top 10.

Only shows that broadcasted between January 1 and June 3 were taken into consideration. Further, the evaluation was done by aggregating weekly population standing and conducting a public online survey.
