According to the singer’s agency HOM Company, Tany (real name Kim Jin-soo) was driving on the South Sea Expressway toward Mokpo in Jangheung-myeon, Jangheung-gun, South Jeolla Province around 2:30 am KST when the deadly accident took place. In the accident, Kim’s car caught on fire, and he died on the scene. In addition, there was on passager in the accident vehicle, but authorities have not revealed the exact identity of this person.

Furthermore, in a statement released on April 13, HOM Company said that “The investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway. It is likely that the funeral will take place after the autopsy and investigation.”

Apparently, Kim had been preparing for a new album and other activities that would have taken place in the second half of this year, making the situation even more tragic. Kim made his debut as Tany in December 2016 with “Always Remember,” a memorial for the victims of the Sewol Ferry Disaster. Later in 2017, he also wrote and released the song “A Better Day” that dealt with the economic hardship that youth face in South Korea.

Regarding his music, Kim often said that he wanted to “sing a song to console the sorrow of the times.” Similarly, he also dreamed of making music that highlighted joy.

We give our condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace.
