Lee Young-Ae dips her foot back into the drama pool through a cameo in JTBC new drama “My ID is Gangnam Beauty”
On July 24, news outlet OSEN reported that Lee Young-Ae recently finished filming for her special appearance in “My ID is Gangnam Beauty.” The actress will briefly appear in the first episode as a college senior to two main characters – Mirae (Lim Soo-Hyang) and Do Kyung-Suk (Chan Eunwoo).
“My ID is Gangnam Beauty” is a drama adaptation of a famous webtoon series of the same title. It will follow the story of the female lead character Mirae, who wishes to overcome her trauma of constant bullying from her childhood. Before she enters college, she goes through multiple plastic surgeries and dreams of a new life. However, she ends up running into unexpected, yet inevitable problems and gets the change to re-define what “beauty” really means. Previously, actress Lim Soo-Hyang confirmed to take on the role of Mirae, as Astro’s Cha Eunwoo confirmed to play the male lead character, Do Kyung-Soo.
Meanwhile, this will be the first time Lee Young-Ae appeared in a drama as a cameo since her debut. According to a source, the actress has a personal connection to the staff of “My ID is Gangnam Beauty,” and decided to show her support through special appearance.
In fact, Lee is simply a hard actress to see through dramas or films.
She had returned to the small screen for the first time in 13 years through SBS “Saimdang, the Herstory” last year. Furthermore, she also returned to film for the first time 12 years when she appeared in an independent short film “The House Below” in 2017.
With the news about Lee Young-Ae’s special appearance, “My ID is Gangnam Style” is gaining even more attention from the public. The drama will premiere on July 27 at 11PM, KST.
