On September 23, a media outlet reported that Jeon So-mi had signed an exclusive contract with YG Entertainment’s subsidiary The Black Label.

However, the label at the center of the matter did not confirm the news. Instead, The Black Label took a cautionary stance and said that it was checking to see if it had a contract with the singer.

Earlier this month, Jeon and JYP Entertainment decided to part ways but did not provide a reason publically. The move was particularly interesting considering that the singer was set to debut in the label’s new girl group.

Moreover, given that Jeon in considered one of the biggest players on the free agent market right now many are paying attention to her next move. With the rumor yet to be denied or confirmed interest remains high since Jeon’s reported move could be a transfer between two major entertainment companies.

Meanwhile, since gaining popularity as a contestant on Mnet’s “Produce 101” and later I.O.I Jeon gained a steady fan base. Further, she has managed to remain in the public’s eye with stints as an MC on various programs and advertisement deals.
