After several weeks of contract discussions it was announced August 29 that Hoya has decided not to resign with Woollim Entertainment. Hoya has also made the difficult decision to leave Infinite, a boy group that debuted seven years ago.
The news came via a press conference where a Woollim representative stated, ” I think we had plenty of time to make a cautious decision, and we have decided to respect Hoya’s will to conclude and terminate the contract that he has with us.”
Woollim Entertainment and Hoya spent several week in contract discussion over various issues. During the press conference the agency touched on the long discussion period. The agency said, ” As it is an important issue, it is a time where a careful choice needs to be made. Therefore, I ask for your understanding that Hoya and our company took a long time to make a decision….” Woollim concluded.
Infinite’s contract expired in early June, at which point contract talks began. June also marked the 7th anniversary of Infinite. All of the members had agreed to renew their contracts with Woollim Entertainment and will remain members of the group.
Best of luck to both Infinite and Hoya as they pursue their different paths.
