Singer Hong Jin-young’s first full-length album’s title song “Love Tonight” has taken over South Korea’s trot music charts.

Hong Jin-young had made an impressive comeback when she released her first full-length album Lots of Love last Friday. Not only has she managed to dominate South Korea’s trot charts but also made a massive stride in her career. This album marks the singer’s first full album since she debuted with “Love Battery” ten years ago.
As of Monday, the record’s title track “Love Tonight” ranked no.1 in the trot music category on the nation’s most used music sites including MelOn, Bugz, Soribada, and Naver Music. Further, it also clocked in at the 25th spot in the real-time music charts where competition with idol music is fierce. Her hit from last year, “Goodbye” also rose on the charts at the time of the new album’s release.
Remarkably, Hong composed all expect two of the songs on Lots of Love. “Love Tonight” combined the classic melodies of trot with disco funk that heralds back to the 1980s. The resulting retro sound is addictive and easy to listen to.
