Producers for MBC’s upcoming romantic drama “Spring Night” (working title) announced that they had cast Han Ji-min and Jung Hae-in as the main character in the new series.

This announcement was supported by Han’s agency BH Entertertainment who told reporters that they had gotten the casting offer for the lead female protagonist and decided to accept. Further, FNC Entertainment, Jung’s agency, also confirmed the news in a public statement.

According to reports, Han will play a woman in her thirties with lovely energy who works as a librarian. On the other hand, Jung is set to take on the role of a pharmacist on the show.

In particular, Jung who will be collaborating with director Ahn Pan-seok for the second time, reveals he was eager to take on another project that allowed him to flex his acting abilities. “The director gave me a good offer, and when I read the script, I felt I wanted to take [the role]. I wanted to try it out because I thought I could show different emotions from the characters I have played so far,” said Jung.

Ahn Pan-seok and writier Kim Eun, who previously worked on “Something in the Rain” together, will be joining forces again for the MBC drama. Given that the two were working on another project together and early rumors of Jung’s possible casting, some speculated that Son Ye-jin might take the lead role reading to a reunion between the two actors. Ultimately Son declined their casting offer. As a result, those speculations have been put to rest.

Even so, expectations from fans and the production crew are already on the rise to see the synergy between Han and Jung. A member from the production team told reporters that now the “magical combination” of Han Ji-min and Jung Hae-in has been born and promised great episodes that will touch viewers hearts.

Meanwhile, “Spring Night” is scheduled to air sometime in May.
