‘The Good Doctor’, which is an American remake of a Korean drama, is so successful that it is going into a full season.

According to foreign press on the 3rd, ABC Entertainment’s executive Channing Dungey officially announced, “We’ve decided to show more episodes of ‘Good Doctor’ for our viewers. We’ll be producing a full season of the show.”

This means that they will make 5 more episodes in addition to the original 13 episodes, which will make the show an 18-episode full season. Therefore, ‘Good Doctor’ proved Korean dramas’ power as not only it was remade in America, but also it is going to a full season.

Korean actors Ju Won and Moon Chae-won performed in the original drama ‘Good Doctor’, which was aired on KBS 2TV in 2013.

The show took a different approach from other medical dramas as it was a coming-of-age story of a surgeon with Savant Syndrome. The unique theme of a disabled doctor was interesting in the U.S. TV market, which is often called the home of medical dramas.

‘The Good Doctor’ was produced by Sony Pictures Television, Shore Z Productions, and 3AD. Famous TV Show ‘House”s writer David Shore also participated as a writer of the new show. The main character Shaun Murphy was played by Freddie Highmore, who played the main boy character in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005).

The remake version was aired on ABC during its prime time. The result was much better than expected. The first episode of the remake show ranked the highest rated Monday drama in the 18-49 age demographic.
