The all-Asian cast Hollywood film, “Crazy Rich Asians” topped the US Box Office in the first weekend of its debut.

According to ComScore, “Crazy Rich Asians” earned $25.2 million over the weekend, with a cumulative #34 million since its opening on August 15. Goldstein’s analysis tells that 41% of audiences over the weekend were white, exceeding Asian audience members who comprised 38%.

Analysts predict that the film will exceed the $32.9 million earnings of Hollywood’s first all-Asian film, “The Joy Luck Club” by the coming weekend.

The romantic comedy film adaptation of the best selling novel under the same title, “Crazy Rich Asians” stars Korean-American actor Ken Jeong and rapper Awkwafina.

K-pop singer Eric Nam reserved an entire screening for the film at a theater in Atlanta and offered tickets for free to promote the film.
