S.E.S. Shoo’s Outfit During Her First Illegal Gambling Trial Becomes a Hot Topic

While former girl group S.E.S. Shoo is on trial for illegally gambling hundreds of millions of won abroad, her ‘court fashion’ has become the talk of the town.

Shoo attended her first hearing at the Dongbu District Court on Seoul on Thursday morning regarding an illegal gambling charge that emerged last year. Making her way to the building, the singer’s outfit surprised onlookers and reporters on location.

Shoo’s elegant gloves and glasses, while black, drew attention and controversy. Seeming for the sake of fashion rather than necessity, many netizens felt that she accessories damaged her image even more.

Usually, celebrities wear simple black clothing when they appear in court or are summoned to go to a police station for questioning; it creates a sense of formality and professionalism.

Some netizen wrote that her outfit was “too much” for a court hearing. Others speculated that she wore the gloves to hide her nails which may have had ostentatious nail art. Unfortunately, it seems controversy regarding the appropriateness of the singer’s outfit will likely continue for the time being.

Meanwhile, Shoo is suspected of illegally gambling abroad totaling 798.25 million won last year. Moreover, according to the prosecution, she gambled over two dozen times since August 6.

During the hearing, she admitted to all of the prosecution’s charges. “I have read the indictment, and I admit all the charges,” said Shoo. Another individual referred to as “A” who lent around 200 million won to Shoo knowing that it was going to be used for gambling has also been indicted.

When leaving the court, the singer spoke briefly to reporters where she apologized for her action and said she is reflecting on her actions.

Visit Huam-Dong for the Best View of Seoul

There are two spots in the northern part of the river most tourists to Seoul don’t miss – Namsan and Itaewon. While the former is a significant landmark of the city topped with N Seoul Tower, the latter is popular for its cultural diversity and trendy atmosphere.

If you too are planning to visit the two locations in Seoul, we highly recommend you to stop by Huam-dong (후암동), perfecting your day in the area.

Namsan Park

Geographically, Huam-dong connects Namsan and Itaewon. Wedged into the steep valley of Namsan Mountain, you can find the hillside alleys of Huam-dong on the way to Itaewon from Namsan. Find the exit from Namsan Park that links to Sowol-gil (소월길). The road would look bleak during this cold season, but it turns beautiful in spring and especially autumn, as the ginkgo trees planted along the sidewalk turn into vivid yellow.

Look to your right to find this view from Sowol-gil.

Once you’re on the right track, walk along the sidewalk until you find the stairway on your right connecting to Huam-dong. When you’re done navigating the steep alleys of the neighborhood and to move to Itaewon, you can either walk through Haebangchon or take a bus – Green Bus 02, Blue Buses 421 and 405, and Yellow Bus 03 will take you back to the packed area.

One of the greatest charms of Huam-dong is the panoramic view of Seoul the neighborhood offers. Due to the neighborhood’s positional advantage, interesting cafes and bars find their homes in Huam-dong.

The Royal Food and Drink

The Royal Food and Drink is famed for the astonishing view from rooftop seats. Stepping inside the brunch cafe, you might be disappointed by the narrow interior. Hold that thought and climb the narrow staircases to the rooftop, where you’ll find the VIP seats with a panoramic view of the whole southern part of Seoul.

The rooftop seats are very limited so they are usually occupied, sometimes with some queues. But it’s always worth the wait for wine with a view, right?

Lala Like

Cafes in Huam-dong also stand out for the compact and cozy atmosphere. Lala Like, located in a rather random area, is a great example.

If you value how your dessert looks as much as its taste, this cake boutique will be a perfect choice. Lala Like is renowned for its colorful cake designs and desserts decorated with Peanuts characters. It’s a great spot especially for your Instagram feeds.

Gong Yoo Leaves His Heart in San Francisco in Photo Shoot With Haper’s Bazaar

After hopping around the foggy city of San Francisco, actor Gong Yoo talked about how he approached acting.

Anything that Gong Yoo touches seems to turn to gold from drama, movies, and even furniture. And it isn’t just his charming looks. His acting ability and emotional nuance have helped Train to Busan and the drama “Goblin” (officially “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God”) international hits.

However, with his next film, Kim Ji-young, Born 1982 – a story about discrimination and sexism at home, work, and school — the actor seems to have taken a turn away from the action drama of Train to Busan and the supernatural romance of that coats “Goblin.”

However, this is not necessarily intentional. “I don’t move with a plan,” said Gong in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar Korea. Rather, he considered how he feels about a potential project and reflects on it actively. ” I don’t want to be stuck in a typical role, I want to keep moving forward, ” explained Gong.

“One of the biggest concerns I have when selecting a project is whether I can give the story or my character a sense of originality and freshness. This is because we’re doing creative things by participating in the production even if we don’t write or produce the scenarios,” Gong said.

Fun fact: Gong Yoo is a fan of the basketball team, the Golden State Warriors. While in San Francisco, he was able to stop by Oracle Area to enthusiastically watch the game. Talking about his love for sports, Gong said with a smile that “when I watch a game with my favorite player — even in front of the TV — I wear my team’s jersey.
