Boy group BTS won ‘Top Social Artist Award’ at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards!
On May 20 (local time), the 2018 Billboard Music Awards took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. At the awards, BTS managed to win ‘Top Social Artist Award’ after their win last year.
In addition, the boy group performed their comeback stage at the awards as well. They performed second to last, and received much love and cheer from the audience. Kelly Clarkson, who hosted the awards, even introduced BTS as “biggest boy band in the world.”
After they finished their performance, BTS shared “when we formed our group in 2013, we were just 7 ordinary kids. We had our hopes and dreams, indeed, but we never imagined us standing here on this stage.” They continued, “to receive the award two years in a row? It’s an honor. This award goes to all Army’s around the world.”
They continued, “it was very meaningful being able to show our comeback stage to everyone across the globe. You guys in the audience singing along really helped us to finish this stage to the way we wanted. We thank all of you for giving us the opportunity to be involved in such a unique experience.”
The ‘Top Social Artist Award’ is given based many things, one of them being the voting process that holds place on various SNS platforms. As BTS has a great influence on SNS, it gave them the advantage. BTS’ leader RM said, “because we received this award twice, I thought a lot about the world ‘social’ and its definition. Many fans shared through social media how our music changed their lives, and I realized the importance of SNS then.”
Congratulations to BTS!
