BTS once again placed its name of the very top of the Billboard 200 albums chart.
According to Billboard on September 2, the group’s repackage album, “Love Yourself: Answer,” which was released on August 24, scored second No.1 album on Billboard’s top 200 albums chart. Preciously in May, the group topped the chart for the first time with “Love Yourself: Tear.”
According to Nielsen Music, BTS’s new album had 185,000 equivalent album units earned in the first week, with 141,000 in traditional album sales.
The sales record of 185,000 units is the third highest this year. Justin Timberlake’s “Man of the Woods,” which was released in February, secured its place on the top with 242,000 units, followed by 231,000 units of Ariana Grande’s latest album, “Sweetener.”
“Love Yourself: Answer” is the first non-English album in 12 years to be the No.1 album on the chart since Il Divo’s “Ancora” in 2006. Also, it’s the first pop act with two No.1 albums in less than a year since One Direction in 2014.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. The new chart will be posted in full on Billboard’s website on September 5.
