After a long delay, Blue Bottle has finally confirmed the location of its first Seoul store at Seongsu-dong.

On November 7, Blue Bottle Coffee Company announced that its first store in Seoul will be open by the second quarter of next year. It will establish Blue Bottle Korea corporate body and operate stores in Korea under direct management.

After reviewing various locations including Samcheong-dong and Gangnam, Blue Bottle concluded that Seongsu-dong goes well the best with the corporate philosophy.

Seongsu-dong, which previous was resided by storages, hand-made shoe workrooms, and sewing factories, is rising as the neighborhood with some of the hottest cultural spaces. Not only coffee shops, but restaurants, craft beer pubs, and start-ups reside in remodeled buildings, keeping the original atmosphere of the neighborhood.

Blue Bottle is planning a special concept that suits the neighborhood, in addition to the local menu and goods.

“For the past few years, we’ve been communicating with regular visitors from Korea as well as Korean fans through social media,” said CEO of Blue Bottle Coffee Company Bryan Meehan. “I wish Blue Bottle to grow from a one-time experience to a part of their lives for Korean fans.”
