On June 22, OSEN reported many major American music producers and networks are paying attention to BLACKPINK. A source from the industry revealed, “attention from the US networks and music producers reflect the response from the locals. Therefore, we can interpret that there is a lot of interest regarding the group from the American public.”
Regarding the news, YG responded, “we admit that the agency and the group have received many offers from America as well as other countries. However, we are not yet at a stage to release any official statement.”
BLACKPINK’s growing popularity is only natural. Even American magazine Forbes highlighted on the group’s success as their “DDU DU DDU DU” music video reaches 50 million YouTube views in record time for K-pop girl group. The magazine reported, “there’s no denying BLACKPINK have already accomplished several remarkable goals with their new release.”
With their first mini album “Square Up” released on June 15, they have finally positioned themselves to be one of K-pop’s most popular groups. The “DDU DU DDU DU” music video broke records for K-pop girl groups as it reached every milestone from 20 million to 80 million views. They charmed the fans from Korea, as well as other parts in Asia, and now they are onto the Western Hemisphere.
