Take a look at Shin Sung-rok and Choi Jin-hyuk’s acceptance speeches where they gratitude, humility, and hope.
“Thank you,” actor Choi Jin-hyuk said, starting off his acceptance speech after receiving one of the Best Actor awards at the 2018 SBS Entertainment Awards. “I don’t know what to say. I’m truly honored to receive the award for ‘The Last Empress,'” Choi said.
“The Last Empress” is a story about power, intrigue, and romance that unfolds when musical actress Oh Ssu-Ni (Jang Na-ra) marries emperor Lee Hyuk (Shin Sung-rok). While there, she struggles with her different life and the tides of power but also finds inexplicable love in bodyguard Na Wang-sik (Choi Jin-hyuk). The drama runs into 2019.
Choi is known to have gotten injured while filming for the drama, an incident that he mentions in his speech. Nonetheless, although it was “physically difficult” the actor believes that the hard work was worth it. Continuing, Choi thanked other actor and staff for their hard work and expressed his goal for the new year. “I will act from the bottom of my heart” and “I hope the drama ends without anyone getting hurt.”
Choi wasn’t the only actor from the show’s cast to win big last night. Co-star Shin Sung-rok, who is also in “The Last Empress” also took home the Best Actor Award. In his acceptance speech, Shin thanked viewers for their interest in the show and said that he has been lucky.
“I’m really happy as an actor to work with a director who has an imagination that breaks barriers and can share it with others,” he said. Part of his appreciation for the director, the writer, and other staff is because Shin didn’t think “[he] could play such a character.”
