It takes much time and effort to be a true K-pop fan. Not only do you need to devote your time to learn the ins and outs of your favorite artists, but you also need to follow the K-pop trends in its entirety, because you can’t see the forest for the trees.

1. Under Nineteen

Host: Kim So-hyun, Solji, Crush, Dynamic Duo, Eunhyuk, and Hwang Sang-hoon


“Under Nineteen” is a currently airing K-pop audition show. To differentiate itself from previous audition shows like Produce 101, “Under Nineteen” limited the age of auditionees to under 19.

In addition to the talents in singing and dancing, the show encourages its trainees to produce music and choreography to be the idol group to lead the next generation. Only the winning group of 9 trainees among 57 will sign a contract to debut.

In each episode, top K-pop artists like BTS’ J-Hope, EXO’s Kai, and SHINee’s Taemin made appearances as guest directors.



2. Kids These Days

In order to understand the K-pop fan culture better, it is essential to understand the Korean Millennials, the leaders of K-pop fandom. “Kids These Days” gives a sneak peek of some things that intrigue Korean youngsters.

In the show, a young person or a group of young people, in the age range of teen to early 20s, team up with a young star and an older celebrity to spend a day like “kids these days.”


3. YG Treasure Box

YG Entertainment’s fourth boy group will be selected from this survival variety show. YG Treasure Box, due to the fame of YG Entertainment that gave births to Big Bang, Winner, and iKON, became one of the most trending variety shows currently airing in Korea.

The show is intriguing to K-pop fans, because it engages fans to actively participate in the process of idol group making. Fans can support their favorite trainees by following them and visiting their profiles on the show’s platform. Such active participation raises the chance to win the lucky draw for the winning group’s debut showcase as well.
