The East Light will hold a press conference, where a member will attend to provide his testimony on the reports of abuse from the producer and CEO.

On October 18, it was reported that the members of The East Light have been verbally and physically abused by their music producer and CEO since before their debut in 2015. In response, the legal counsel of the band announced to hold a press conference, at which one member will attend to provide his full testimony on the reported abuse.

Earlier reports stated that a producer, known as “A,” not only abused the members verbally, but he also did not hesitate to cause bodily damage, using a baseball bat, metal microphone, and others. Kim Chang-Hwan, the CEO of Media Line, joined in the abuse by being a bystander, allowing such actions to happen.

Later in the day, the agency released an official statement regarding the reports of abuse. The company had said, “we were aware of the abuse that arose while the producer in charge was training the members, approximately a year and 4 months ago. Afterwards, we came to a resolution after speaking with their parents, and we promised that such acts would never occur again.”

“As far as we know, there have been no such incidents sine then, and The East Light members have actively been promoting. However, the emotional gap between the members and the producer have only gotten deeper, resulting in the current situation. At this time, the producer has taken full responsibility for his actions and handed in his resignation.”

At the end, the agency clarified that CEO Kim Chang-Hwan, though he has disciplined the members if they were his own, has never incited or abetted the abuse. The company once again apologized for the unfortunate happening, and promised to find the best resolution for all parties.

In response, a legal counsel for the members announced the press conference regarding the reported abuse on October 19.

The press conference will address the reported abuse from the music producer “A” as well as the incitement and overlooking of the CEO. At the conference, member “B” will attend to provide his full testimony regarding the abuse, present related evidence, and answer questions from the press.
