On May 15, the 2018 MXY Music Award was held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in the Philipines. During the event, Super Junior won the International Video of the Year award for their title song “Black Suit,” which they released last November. When the song premiered, it quickly took the top spot on iTunes in several countries such as Japan, Taiwan, Costa Rica, Peru, and Turkey.

In particular, the boy group was the only Korean artists to win in any of the 17 categories at the MXY Music Awards. Notably, the group earned the win through a combination of votes online and from local Filipino artists at 60 and 40 percent, respectively. One another note, the ceremony marks its 13th anniversary. This year too, it continues to be known for its prestige and is run by the Philippine’s largest music channel.

Meanwhile, Super Junior continues to be an influential force behind the momentum of the Hallyu wave. Recently, the group made significant progress into Latin America with the release of “Lo Siento,” featuring Leslie Grace. Remarkably, the song debuted on the Billboards Latin chart, a first for a K-pop idol group. Further, the group also finished a tour with concerts in Buenos Aires, Lima, Santiago, Chile, and Mexico.

Next, Super Junior has joined the line-up for KCON New York 2018, which will take place in late June.
