Numerous stars took to social media yesterday to remember the tragic accident that took over 300 lives.
On April 16, 2014, the Sewol ferry boat took off from Incheon near Seoul on route to Jeju Island. More, the ship carried 467 passengers, most of which were students from Danwon High School. However, 304 passengers would never make it to land again. Around 9 am KST the ferry began to take on water and sink. By 11:30 am, KST, the ship had disappeared into the ocean.
The tragedy of the incident scarred the nation and every spring many take the time to remember the victims and hope that a disaster on this scale will never happen again. This is done through posting on social media or wearing a yellow ribbon that has become a symbol of hope.
On the fourth anniversary of the Sewol Ferry Disaster, numerous stars posted images of the yellow ribbon on social media, and some shared their feeling and thoughts.
Rainbow member Jisook posted a picture of the ribbon and wrote: I cannot imagine how the bereaved families feel but I hope that a heartbreaking event like this never again takes place…I will remember without forgetting. 4.16
Actress Park Hee-von wrote on her Instagram account, ” I’ll stay with you till the truth comes out.” Likewise, comedian Park Mi-Sun said, “I will not forget the fourth spring…I wish that a painful day like this didn’t exist.” SNSD Seohyun simply said, “I won’t forget.”
In addition to these stars, Model Lee Young-jin, Yoo Ah-in, Chae Soo-bin, Chung Eun-ji, Son Dam-bi, Go Kyung-pyo, Uhm Jung-hwa, Eric Nam, Super Junior Yesung, MC Lee Sang-min and more posted about the event.
