Suran denies any romantic relationship with BTS member Suga and reveals what being a celebrity is like nowadays.
On March 31, Suran posted a lengthy message on her Instagram account regarding a recent rumor that the singer had dated BTS member Suga. In the post, Suran denied the rumor, issued an apology to those who may have been hurt by the rumor, and shared how she felt.
“When I met Suga last year, all we communicated about was music — nothing more or less,” she explained. “Nonetheless, I think there are a lot of people who continue to misunderstand, and so my heart feels heavy,” she wrote.
Moreover, Suran explains that she goes to great lengths to avoid misinterpretations of her social media posts. “Because I’m a public figure, I think I should always be aware of others when I make posts. I think about the people who surround me, consider every circumstance, and try to control everything…I can’t do just anything, I also have to censor my music and always worry…” she explains.
“I am shocked and hurt,” she confessed, referring to criticism she has received in the past few days. “I’ve agonized over my posts and tried to get rid of them, but this is my personal SNS (social networking site)” she explained. Suran continued and said that her posts are a way for her “to let [her] true feelings be known.”
On March 27, a rumor started on online communities that speculated that Suran and Suga had dated sometime last year. Last April the two had collaborated on Suran’s song “If I Get Drunk Today,” featuring Changmo. However, both sides have flatly denied the rumor.
Meanwhile, fans of both Suran and BTS have flocked to her social media account to leave supportive messages.
