According to a JTBC official, “Hyori’s Bed & Breakfast” has been green-lighted for a second season. Filming for the new season can happen as soon as January 2018. However, the premiere date for the show has not been decided yet. Due to the January production, viewers can expect an atmosphere different from the summer season witnessed in season 1.

Despite the huge popularity of Season 1, an agreement and production for a second season stalled due to privacy concerns. Crowds of tourist flocked to the Lee’s family home. This was a result of the popularity of the show and the on-location filming at the Lee couple’s house.

JTBC and the show’s production team actively worked to find a suitable solution for the couple. From the end of season 1 until now JTBC set up a small information center in front of couple’s home. This information booth provides guidance to visitors to the home that the residence is not a tourist site, but is a private residence that is actively occupied. Currently, there are still a few visitors who still make a trip to Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-soon’s home. However, the amount of visitors since the installation of the information booth has been considerably reduced. There is a concern that once season 2 begins to air that visitor numbers will increase, but there is hope that the effects of the booth will act as a deterrent.

The Show’s Charm and Future Changes

Viewers found the show refreshing due to minimal crew intervention, no stimulated settings or big-name guests. As a result, the show has a relaxed and natural flow that was enhanced by a bare-faced Lee Hyori, easy going Lee Sang-soon, and diligent helper IU. Unfortunately, for season 2 of “Lee Hyori’s Bed & Breakfast” IU will not be joining due to a schedule conflict. On December 8, IU’s agency —- said, ” IU is not joining because she is scheduled to film for a drama.”

IU charmed viewers in her role as a staff member at the bed & breakfast. As such, it is not surprising that many viewers wanted the singer and actress to appear in season two. However, she has already been cast in the new tvN drama “My Ahjussi” — a position that was agreed upon before the announcement of season 2. Unless there is an adjustment to the filming and broadcasting for “My Ahjussi”, there is no expectation that IU will appear in the show.

“Hyori’s Bed and Breakfast” is a reality program where Hyo-ree and her husband Sang-soon operate a B&B using their Jeju home. The show centers on the interactions and stories between guest and the B & B staff. Unlike many shows that use high-profile stars, the guests vary in age and occupation and are unknown to the public at large.
