KBS 2TV drama “My Golden Life” came in first place as one of the most loved dramas of the month once again. The drama has also reached an impressive audience viewership of up to forty percent.

From Dec. 12-14, Gallup Korea asked 1,007 people over the age of nineteen what their TV program was. Each participant had an option of adding two programs that were not on the list.

“My Golden Life” came in first with 8.6 percent of the votes, and second place went to “Infinite Challenge”. It is the first time for a drama to receive first place for two months in a row since “Empress Ki” (2014), which came in first for three to four months.

“My Golden Life” is a family drama about a woman by the name of Seo Ji-an, who leaves her poor family to achieve a higher social status with the help of a “cheat key”. She meets Choi Do-kyung, a chaebol who has been kicked out of his house, and the romance ensues. The main cast includes Park Si-hoo, Shin Hye-sun, Seo Eun-soo, Cheon Ho-Jin, Kim Hye-ok and Na Young-hee.

The drama marks Writer So Hyun-kyung’s first comeback since “Seoyoung, My Daughter” (2012), and is the second time her work has reached a viewership of forty percent. It is the first time for a drama to breakthrough forty percent viewership since KBS 2TV drama “What Happens to My Family?” (2015).

Although “My Golden Life” includes unfavorable characters like an ungrateful eldest son, and a money-obsessed chaebol family, it continues to retain audience interest. The drama is expected to continue its high viewership streak.
