It has been 20 years since the landmark horror film Whispering Corridors launched the career or multiple actors and changed the cinematic landscape of Korean cinema.
When Whispering Corridors came out in 1998, it became a box office hit and spearheaded the way in creating the “ghost school” horror genre.
Since then, the four sequels cemented the original film as “the horror queen” and became a reliable gateway for new actresses to launch their career. In Particular, Choi Kang-hee, Park Jin-hee, Park Ye-jin, Kim Gyu-ri, Gong Hyo-jin, Park Han-byul, Song Ji-hyo, and Kim Ok-bin have all starred in the film series.
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Cinematheque Korean Film Archive (KOFA) in Sangam, Seoul has set up a special exhibit. As the exhibit that will run from August 22 to 26, visitors will have the opportunity to ask the films’ directors questions.
More, fans of the film will be able to see some of the memorable items like the bust from the original Whispering Corridors and the purple diary in the second film Memento Mori.
