The actor updated fans of his condition through a letter on his fan cafe.

On Dec. 29, Kim uploaded a letter with the title “This is Kim Woo-bin”. The letter reads as follows:

I had the pen in my hand for a long time because I was not sure how to begin this message. My heart is beating fast as I write this letter to everyone. First of all…you really were surprised, right?

I wanted to relay this message a while back, but couldn’t due to my treatment and recovery. Like that, seven months have already passed. I think it also took longer because I got scared every time my name appeared on real-time search rankings. However, I wanted to talk about this before the year ended.

I would like to begin with what people are curious about the most: my condition. Back in May, I was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal cancer. It was the first time I had ever heard of such a condition. After I received the diagnosis, I told the director, co-actors and staff I was working with at that time, and began treatment. Thanks to everyone’s prayers and support, I successfully completed my third anti-cancer treatment and fifth radiation treatment. I was able to gain strength during those times by reading messages of support on my fan cafe. Thank you so much.

As of now, I am in recovery and undergoing periodic follow-up tests. I am taking light walks, eating regularly, and slowly regaining my strength. However, it will take some more time before I am able to greet everyone. I feel embarrassed showing this painful side of me, especially since I always left messages telling everyone to put their health first. From now on, I will make an effort to relay good news in regards to my health.

I pray for a miracle in the New Year for those going through hardships with their families. I hope that 2018, the year of the dog, is filled with happiness and good health.

Kim Woo-bin halted all activities back in May after learning of his diagnosis. His film “Wiretap” was also postponed.
