Actor Kim Tae-hoon gave a full account of his journey to becoming an actor and how he came to act in hit film “The Man From Nowhere”.

Actor Kim Tae-hoon from the film “The Man From Nowhere” posed for a photoshoot with Internation Bnt and answered a few questions in an interview.

The actor is also known for his latest role in film “Glass Garden” with actress Moon Geun-young. When asked about his impression of the co-star, he responded, “We didn’t have a lot of scenes together so I can’t tell you much, but she has a really good personality. She was a lot tougher than I thought she would be, and she wasn’t picky.”

Kim was also responded to a question on the film’s relatively low audience turnout. “Rather than focusing on audience numbers and quantity, I think my duty is to reflect on parts I didn’t do so well on and parts that didn’t connect with the audience,” he said.

He also revealed that unlike his older brother, actor Kim Tae-woo, he did not initially think to pursue acting. “My brother prepared to become an actor ever since he was little. I never had those thoughts–I was just a normal kid.” During the college entrance period, he was drawn to advertising and promotion and aimed to study mass communication.

“I heard that there were a lot more sunbaes in advertising than acting at Hanyang University, so I contemplated joining the film and theater department instead,” he said. However, his decision was met with disapproval from his parents.

“I ended up being cast for the role two days before filming.”

Therefore, he decided to apply to four universities–two of his father’s choice and two his choice. His applications were all rejected. However, Kim narrowly managed to enter Hanyang University after a spot in the film and theater department opened up. “My life would have been very different if I didn’t get in,” he said.

The actor became widely known for his role in “The Man From Nowhere”. “The original actor considered for the role was Yang Ik-Joon. Director Lee Jung-bum offered Yang the role first, but it didn’t work out with his schedule,” the actor said. “I met with the director and he said that the character would turn out very differently if I played him–like a detective and alumni of a police academy. However, I ended up being cast for the role two days before filming.”

Kim also revealed that he does not watch the projects he acts in. “I watch them maybe once or twice for monitoring purposes, but for the most part I try not to watch because I’m not satisfied with my acting,” he said.

“I felt like I was able to let everything go and enjoy myself.”

The actor shared that the film “The Man From Nowhere” was his first official debut. Before that, he acted in independent films.

In regards to his upcoming 2018 film “Wrestler”, Kim shared his positive thoughts on co-actor Yoo Hae-jin. “In addition to making others feel comfortable, he’s a warm-hearted hyung and a great person,” he said.

The actor also revealed the musical “Moral Family” to have been the most impressionable work for him as of late. “I couldn’t help but cry while watching it,” he said.

Lastly, he responded to a question about his drinking tolerance with, “I used to drink but my health started deteriorating so I stopped. I drank happily at the Pusan International Film Festival though. Even though I woke up at 6 a.m. for three out of the five days I was there, it was a great experience for me. I felt like I was able to let everything go and enjoy myself.”
