JYPE announced plans to debut ‘Stray Kids’, their first boy group in two years.
The nine-member trainee group will appear on a new Mnet survival program to test their skills and prove themselves idol-material by completing assigned missions. Trainees who successfully pass the tests will be able to debut under the name ‘Stray Kids’.
The show will air its first episode on Oct 17 at 11PM (KST).
Teasers and posters introducing the boys have been posted on Naver and the Stray Kids’ official Facebook page. Their music video ‘Hellevator’ also came out on Oct 6 and has reached over 3 million total views.
The music video talks about a person who struggles to break free from their past and the people who try to bring them down. The dark grungy rap combined with pop elements is a nod to old K-pop boy group sounds yet marks a new stylistic change for JYPE.
