Singers IU and Yoo Hee-yeol will have a collaboration at this year’s SBS Gayo Daejun. This will be in addition to being the event’s MCs.
According to multiple sources, the two singers will not only MC the SBS Gayo Daejun, but are also preparing a joint-performance. The performance initially suggested by event staff and eventually accepted by both singers. Moreover, this collaboration is meant to represent the diversity of the k-pop community.
Hee-yeol an accomplished singer-songwriter, pianist, and host. Since 2009 he has been the host of the music program “Yoo Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook” on KBS 2TV. Additionally, he was a judge on “K-pop Star 3” and became a cast member of “SNL Korea” in 2013.
IU has released two immensely popular albums this year: Palette and A Flower Bookmark 2. Both albums and their respective title tracks topped Korean music charts, reinforcing the singer’s legacy. During the summer she joined Lee Hyori and Lee Sang-soon at their home in Jeju Island for the show “Lee Hyori’s Bed and Breakfast”. The show was immensely popular and was recently greenlighted for a second season. Unfortunately, IU, who many found charming in the show, will not be joining the second season due to a schedule conflict.
