It has been 11 years since the 20-year old actress Kim So-hyun debuted. She may be young, but her acting is not. She has recently started a new chapter in her life: she became a college student.

At a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Kim So-hyun answered a few questions in the interview. Although Kim played as a woman in her late 20’s in the KBS 2TV’s ‘Radio Romance,’ the real Kim So-hyun is still a joyful 20-year old girl.

Q. It was your first time acting as an adult, how was it?

It was a little awkward, but it went better than I thought it would. I wasn’t thinking ‘now that I’m twenty, I’m going to act like an adult,’ which helped me to put less pressure on myself.

Q. Are you disappointed about the unexpected viewership rating of ‘Radio Romance?’

I can’t say I’m disappointed. I do think that it would have been more supportive if it were higher, considering the fact that all staff and actors worked really hard for the last 3 months. The viewership rating does have an effect on the atmosphere of the filming. However, it didn’t have an impact on our filming. Everyone was enjoying their work. I was really thankful.

Q. What was one thing you did to act out a character older than you?

I had a lot of thoughts about it. I’m only 20, but I had to act like I was in my late 20’s. No matter how much I tried to look mature, there’s a certain that I couldn’t quite reach. The outfits and styling were also very new to me. I used to always wear school uniform or a casual look, but this time I had to wear heels. Instead of trying to look “old,” I tried to look like Geu-rim (the character Kim So-hyun portrayed in ‘Radio Romance’). I realized if I put the focus on “appearing older,” it would distract me from my emotions.

Q. How was acting with Yoon Du-joon?

It was hard to approach him at first. I didn’t know how to. The fact we had lots of fighting and bickering scenes in the first few episodes of the drama didn’t help either. But, in the mid-way, we started to have lots of romantic scenes. Afterwards, we would play with each other like real brother and sister.

Q. What was your first impression of Yoon Park?

I was scared at first because he was looking at the script, only. I put a lot of thoughts into how to approach him. However, as I got to know him, I realized he was rather naive and kind. I didn’t even feel the age difference between us. Maybe he was conscious of how young I was, but I couldn’t feel it while we were shooting the drama.

Q. What was the kissing scene that stays in your mind the most?

I remember the kissing scene at the park. Two characters finally realized each other’s true feelings by kissing, at the same spot they shared a hug. The night view was also amazing.

Q. If you were to choose Yoon Park or Yoon Du-joon, who could you chose?

The character Yoon Park portrayed, Lee Kang, is my ideal boyfriend. Even to my character Geu-rim, Lee Kang is someone she admires. I think Lee Kang has a unique something that puts everyone at ease. It’s admirable how no matter how tired he is, he still completes all the tasks he was given.

Q. Now that you are a college student, is there something you expect out of it?

I went to the entrance ceremony and the performance by my classmates. While in class, I was feeling sorry that I lacked so much knowledge. I really wanted to put my best effort but couldn’t do it alone, so I asked for help from my classmates. I’m realizing how much I have missed out on school work. College is still so unfamiliar to me.

I don’t really a certain fantasy about college life, but I do want to have a drink with classmates after school, or do a team project at a cafe together.

Q. If there’s one thing you want to try as an adult?

I want to show the world my true self. I haven’t had the chance to show you myself. A variety show or a talk show would be good. However, it’s honestly a bit difficult because I’m not great at talking. So I think maybe a variety show where we travel together like ‘Battle Trip’ would be perfect for me. I hate bugs so I would like to polite deny ‘The Law of Jungles.’ I would love to go on a travel with actress Jiwoo or Red Velvet member, Yeri.

Q. It’s been 10 years since you first debuted as an actress. How do you feel?

It feels surreal to me. When I hear other people are in their 11th year, I’m so amazed, but now that I am in my 11th year, I can’t believe it. I feel lucky to have had the chance to act for such a long time. I want this to continue until it’s my 21st year as an actress.
