Boy group GOT7 took New York by storm when they appeared on the city’s largest morning entertainment program, and added another milestone to their record.
In an interview with Billboard, GOT7 was introduced as the “first K-pop group to perform at the Barclays Center in New York.”
The group’s New York performance is their last in the U.S., having performed in Houston and Los Angeles in the days prior — ending their U.S. leg on a high note. Prior to their performance in the heart of the Big Apple, K-pop stars and related events have taken place at the Prudential Center a town away in New Jersey. In fact, that is where KCON New York is hosted.
On the same day as their performance in the city, the group has an interview on “Good Day New York,” the largest morning news program in the metropolis. During the interview on the show, the group said that they are happy to be performing in the U.S., and on a larger stage than before. Moreover, instead of being nervous they were excited mentioning that “we prepared different and special songs for the concert.”
Additionally, the group revealed that while it is an honor to get the title to be the first K-pop to sell out and perform at the Barclays Center, the also have another goal in mind. “We want to promote K-pop more so that other teams can perform there too,” the members said.
Meanwhile, the GOT7 kicked off their tour with a concert in Seoul in May. Since then the group has traversed through Europe, most of Asia and the U.S. They now head to Canada.
