Eight-year veteran girl group Stellar is disbanding after failing to renew their contracts with Entertainment Pascal. Reportedly, the members made the decision unanimously.

Stellar announced the news to fans at a fan-meet on Feb. 25, a full day before it was announced to the public. One the same day, So-young, posted a handwritten letter on her social media regarding the disbandment. She writes, “today will be my last letter as a member of Stellar. I am going to be starting anew since the expiration of my contract with my beloved Entertainment Pascal. It was a short time, but I will never forget the love I received while [with Stellar],” she said.

Continuing, So-young also expressed her gratitude to fans saying, “I want to apologize to you as Stellar’s So-young, and I hope you can support my new start in the future. I feel so thankful and sorry for the supportive member of the group and for Twinkle (fan club name), who are my friends no matter what.”

The girl group made their debut in 2011 with the digital single “Rocket Girl.” However, it was not until the 2014 release of the Marionette album that the group saw their popularity rise. Although the title song, which shared the same name as the album, drew criticisms for its adult theme, it was apart of the top 50 songs on Gaon at the time.

Leading up to their disbandment, the group went through a series of line-up changes. Members left, and new ones were added, which constantly changed the dynamic and sound of the group.

Moreover, while the members of the group have not announced their future plans, we wish them all the best in their endeavors.
