Fans of actor Gong Yoo gave a meaningful gift for his birthday.
On July 10, Gong Yoo’s fan club “Yoo & I” donated 16 million won (14,360 USD) to Korea Children’s Leukemia Foundation. Further, according to reports, the donation was provided to help fund hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. This treatment is used to combat some types of cancer but is now used as a form of therapy for many autoimmune diseases.
Notably, this is the fan club’s second time make such a donation. Last year, “Yoo & I” made a 14 million won donation. In total, the group has fundraised and given around 30 million won to charitable causes. In the foundation issued donation certificate, the fan club wrote a touching message. “We celebrate the 40th birthday of Gong Yoo” and “we pray that every child in the world will be happy and not ill,” were written on the certificate.
Meanwhile, Gong made his debut with a guest appearance in “School 4” on KBS. In the years since, the actor has grown steadily in skill, popularity, and renown and is now considered a top actor. Some of his recent and well-known projects include the drama “Goblin” and the film “Train to Busan.”
