On October 22, Lee Sang-min posted a photo of Kim Sung-soo, the main suspect in the PC Room Murder case. Along with the photo, Lee wrote that he will remember Kim’s face “for a long time.”

Continuing he wrote “So it was anti-depressants…no matter the results of suspect Kim Sung-soo’s psychiatric evaluation it is absolutely not an excuse (for the murder)! I can say this firmly,” Lee wrote. ” I am so angry! There are many people with panic, anxiety, and sleep disorders but at the same time work hard (to live normal lives),” the entertainer said.

The comments is a reaction of the PC Room Murder case involving Kim. Back on the morning of October 14, Kim asked Shin, a 21-year-old part-time worker at a PC room, to clear some trash that a previous customer left behind. While the Shin obliged the request, Kim claimed that he was rude and reportedly threatened to take his life. Shin called the police and Kim left.

However, the disgruntled customer returned and lay in wait for Shin at the PC Room where he stabbed him multiple times in the face. Shin was sent to a local hospital but was pronounced dead at 11 a.m. With CCTV footage of the incident available for analysis, there enough evidence that Kim’s conviction is extremely likely.

Given the likelihood of his conviction, Kim’s defense has highlighted Kim history of clinical depression anti-depressant prescription to argue that he is mentally unfit and to possibly get a lighter sentence. To determine his mental state, Kim will undergo a month-long psychiatric evaluation.

In response to this decision, many share the same feelings as Lee Sang-min. Over 800,000 people have signed a petition to the Blue House to urge that no leniency be given to Kim no matter the results of the evaluation. Notably, this petition has the highest number of signatures since President Moon established the platform last year.
